If you’ve followed along for any amount of time, you know I love a good design challenge — and recently, I’ve dipped my toes into a short-term rental in a way that feels both exciting and deeply personal.
Meet Heritage House Cottage, a tiny-but-mighty vacation rental designed by me, styled to the nines, and created to feel like a cozy, character-filled home away from home. This project blends everything I love most about interior design: thoughtful function, layered pattern, vintage-inspired details, and spaces that feel warm, welcoming, and lived in.
At just under 900 square feet, this two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath short-term rental in Edmond, Oklahoma proves that small spaces can still live beautifully.

A Thoughtfully Designed Short-Term Rental in Downtown Edmond, OK
From the very beginning, my vision for Heritage House Cottage was to create a boutique hotel–style Airbnb experience — one that feels elevated but approachable, charming but functional, and completely intentional from top to bottom.

The moment you walk through the front door, you’re welcomed by a cozy entry moment anchored by a deep chocolate brown v-groove accent wall. It’s rich, grounding, and sets the tone for the entire home — a place to drop your keys, exhale, and settle in.

Living Room Design: Cozy, Layered, and Full of Character
The living room may be small, but it’s big on personality. Designed for both comfort and flexibility, the space features a sleeper sofa for additional guests, a curated gallery wall, and a mounted TV for cozy nights in.

Soft plaid curtains add warmth and pattern, while the space is grounded by the Crosby table lamp — a design of my own — bringing a personal, meaningful touch to the room. It’s layered, inviting, and exactly the kind of space you want to curl up in after a full day of exploring.

A Green Kitchen That Proves Small Can Still Be Luxe
There may not be a traditional dining room, but you won’t miss it. The kitchen features a full bar with seating for four, making it the heart of the home — perfect for morning coffee, casual meals, or late-night conversations.

The green kitchen cabinetry sets the tone, paired with a checkered tile backsplash and brass gallery rail that add character and old-world charm. A classic apron-front sink, designer gas range, paneled appliances, pull-out trash, spice rack, and thoughtful storage solutions ensure the space functions just as beautifully as it looks.
Every inch was designed to feel like a luxury kitchen — just scaled down in the smartest way.

A Powder Bath That Doesn’t Take Itself Too Seriously
Just off the main level is the powder bathroom, and it might be my favorite room in the entire house.
A schoolhouse-style yellow sink steals the show, layered against blue floral wallpaper and finished with a vintage horse-head towel holder. It’s playful, charming, and unexpected — a happy little design moment that makes guests (and me!) smile every single time.

A Luxury Bathroom with a Touch of Whimsy
Upstairs is where the cottage really starts to feel like a retreat.
The full bathroom features double vanities, a stocked linen tower, and a shower wrapped in dusty blue and white striped tile — timeless, fresh, and quietly beautiful.

An Upstairs Coffee Bar for an Easy Caffeine Fix
Nearby, you’ll find the coffee and tea bar, complete with a Keurig, French press, grinder, and all the essentials. Wrapped in charcoal horse-print wallpaper and finished with a brown gingham sink skirt, it’s a small space that makes slow mornings feel extra special.

Two Bedrooms, Each With Their Own Personality
The cottage includes two thoughtfully designed bedrooms, each layered with texture, pattern, and warmth.
Bedroom One features plaid wallpaper layered over blue v-groove paneling, creating a tailored, cozy feel that feels both classic and welcoming.

Bedroom Two is softly styled and features the Rosemary chandelier — another of my lighting designs with Alora Mood — adding a warm glow and a personal touch. Tucked inside the closet is a full washer and dryer, because real-life conveniences matter, even on a getaway.

Designing Heritage House Cottage has been an incredibly rewarding experience — one that allowed me to fully play out some of my favorite design fantasies. With the freedom of a short-term rental, I leaned into bolder color, whimsical details, and layered pattern play, all while navigating the challenge (and fun) of working within a small footprint.
This luxury tiny cottage gave me the opportunity to design a space meant to be experienced by many — a home that tells a story, feels deeply intentional, and leaves guests feeling inspired long after they check out. Designing within the constraints of under 900 square feet pushed my creativity in the best way and reaffirmed my belief that thoughtful design isn’t about size — it’s about soul.
This project was ultimately about creating something special: a place that feels personal, layered, and full of heart, no matter its square footage.
