In the Black Oak project, we have not one, but two work spaces... a study for mom and dad and and art room for the kiddos! For both of these work-forward rooms, we leaned into moody painted cabinetry, statement lighting, and maximalist styling. Keep scrolling to see two of our favorite rooms from Black Oak!

Moody Green Study
The library slash office is bathed in a mesmerizing mid-tone green that sets the stage for productivity and creativity. We've incorporated some stunning cabinetry details, including periodical shelves with flush mounts to illuminate your book displays. Ample storage for books, a cozy fireplace, and an unexpected hidden bar add a touch of whimsy to this sophisticated workspace.

Library Furniture and Decor
It was important for us to make this space a cozy retreat in the home, in addition to having a traditional work-desk space. We really liked the idea of being able to pour ourselves a drink at the end of a long day and escape into this room for a few hours of reading or even a late night work sesh. Our furniture selections were imperative in achieving this goal.
Enhancing the moody tone, the tufted leather Prue sofa gave the perfect masculine touch to the space. We paired a more feminine slipcover dining chair with an18th Century French style desk, with the most perfect cabriole legs.

Perfectly Plaid
We really leaned into the preppy, collegiate theme and layered plaid patterns in just about anywhere we could! The Charleston rug was an obvious choice (and a Heritage House fave!) for this room.
Stone Fireplace
In true KLD fashion, we brought more of the outdoors in with this stone fireplace. Incorporating organic, nature-made elements has become a staple in our designs. You may remember we incorporated a stone wall in the dining room, so we kept this accent repeating here.

Kids' Art Room Design
This is what we're lovingly coining the art room! I wanted to create a space that inspired kids to unleash their creativity, have a safe place to make a mess, and a place to store all their craft supplies... all in one!
A Transitional Space
While this room was designed with the little ones in mind, I wanted the space to still look visually appealing and feel like a part of the European luxury Black Oak design. A fun mash up of floral wallpaper and painted cabinetry was our solution! We styled the kids' art supplies in vintage French pottery on the floating shelves and hung statement light fixtures to elevate the youthful space. It's now a versatile haven that can transform into a homework room or even a bonus office if one of us needs to lock ourselves away to get some work done.

With great natural light pouring in, this room is a haven for creative minds, and I can't wait to see the endless possibilities that unfold within these walls.
