Project Sunset Sail: Kitchen Reveal

We've set a few New Year's Resolutions (ahem, goals if you will) for ourselves, and blogging more often is at the TOP of our list! We can't wait for you all to see what the KLD team has been up to recently and the home design projects we have in the pipeline. To kick off a new year of KLD content, we're sharing one of our favorite new kitchen interior design completions – Sunset Sail.

In case you missed it, cottagecore kitchens are in! And you better believe the KLD team is here for it! Sunset Sail, built by McGregor Homes, features a mix of cottage elements with modern style for a layered, heirloom look. Take a look below!

stone backsplash in kitchen

The biggest statement of this cottagecore infused kitchen is easily the mortared stone backsplash. Buff Lueders thin stone in varying sizes instantly give off the organic, cozy vibe we were aiming for in this home. I guarantee you'll be seeing more of this exaggerated grout in homes this year, both in the kitchen and on fireplaces, as this trend evolves. You'll see in our upcoming living room reveal that we used this same treatment on the fireplace one room over!

rustic stone backsplash

Cosmic gray quartz countertops and oil-rubbed bronze hardware and plumbing (yes, you heard that correctly! oil. rubbed. bronze. is back baby!) provided a stark contrast to white shaker style cabinets. Honestly, we feel like this combo is a no-brainer for almost any modern home as it's simple style and classic palette will pair with any change in decor.

We chose to flank the range hood with industrial black cone sconces, which beautifully complemented the oxidized brass pendant lights we hung above the kitchen island – aren't they gorgeous?! It's a total old-meets-new moment that you've come to know us for.

rustic kitchen styling

The styling mirrored the brass pendant's vintage pulse. A traditional round wooden pedestal table was set with antique rush seating chairs, a jute runner atop the floor, and collected jars and vases lined the open shelving.

mudroom and coffee bar

Just next to the kitchen, you'll find the coffee nook and mudroom. We can't think of a more convenient way to grab our coffee, tote bag and head out the door. We were truly thinking of on-the-go moms with this floor plan!

If you're loving this cottagecore kitchen reveal, just wait 'til you see the rest of this warm and inviting home in Edmond, Oklahoma! We'll be unveiling the living room and primary bedroom interior design in the coming weeks – stay tuned!
