Our final installment of Project Cowboy Cool is here! We’re stepping into the quieter corners of the home: the main bedroom, main bathroom, laundry room, and mudroom. Our goal was to carry the rustic, modern charm found throughout the estate into every space—creating a cohesive, polished feel that remains deeply personal to the family. Our team joined this rural Oklahoma project mid-construction to help refine the design direction and complete the furnishing and finish selections, and we are over-the-moon with the final product!
From the calming retreat of the primary suite to the layered functionality of the laundry and mudroom, these spaces prove that utility and beauty don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

The Main Bedroom
The main bedroom was designed as a true retreat, blending an earthy neutral palette with layers of rich textures. At the heart of the space is a vintage rug, chosen to complement the room’s long, rectangular proportions while still allowing a warm wood border to frame the floor.

A neutral upholstered bed serves as the anchor, flanked by the Denner Dresser nightstands with ample storage and a refined texture. The bed is layered with a thoughtful mix of patterns and textures, including a brown gingham duvet, plaid and denim accent pillows, and two interchangeable coverlet options—one in a sage charcoal tone, the other featuring woven thread details and tassels. At the foot of the bed, a sentimental bench from the homeowner’s childhood adds charm and personal history to the space.

For seating, we incorporated power recliners—a nod to both comfort and function—proving that relaxation doesn’t have to compromise style. With the coffee table seating leading out to the back patio, this is the perfect spot for our clients to enjoy their morning coffee before the day begins.

Upon entering the bedroom vestibule, a curated vignette sets the tone. A vintage Round Top chair, a bronze cast horse sculpture, and an accordion-style sconce come together to create a sculptural moment that reflects the homeowner’s Western heritage. Styled with cowboy boots, this welcoming entryway offers a glimpse into the story of the home.

The Main Bathroom
This bathroom is all about layered textures, bold materials, and thoughtful design choices. The custom walnut vanities with reeded detailing are finished with brass hardware and topped with leathered granite countertops, creating a rich yet refined aesthetic.

The vessel sinks make a striking statement, but their placement required careful planning. Since typical vanity heights finish at 36 inches, we adjusted the base height so that the final height, including the vessel, remains at a comfortable level for everyday use. If you're considering vessel sinks, be sure to account for this in your design to maintain ergonomic functionality.
One of our favorite details? The pull-chain sconces paired with leather-wrapped mirrors, adding a vintage, bespoke touch to the space.

It’s truly a vibe in here. Between the view of horses passing by outside the window, the soft veining of the marble walls, and the warmth of the unlacquered brass fixtures, this space was designed to be a sanctuary for unwinding.
The chandelier above the tub steals the show. Lighting is the jewelry of the home, and we knew this area needed its own moment. The softness and drape of the fixture add a layer of femininity and elegance that pairs beautifully with the teakwood platform and sculptural tub.
We leaned into the luxurious feel with subtle, thoughtful styling. A vintage chair placed nearby doubles as a spot for towels and adds a collected, lived-in charm. Don’t be afraid to bring in unexpected elements—like a chair instead of a stool, or an antique object in place of a typical hook. These choices add character and help a space feel curated and personal.

The Closet
Main suite closets can sometimes be overlooked in the design process, but that was not the case here. We started with two-tone walnut and white cabinetry, pairing it with walnut and brass-detailed hardware for a rich, sophisticated touch.
One standout feature is the cowboy hat wall, which not only serves as a practical storage solution but also transforms the collection into an artful display. A bench provides a perfect place to drape clothes while getting dressed, and a valet counter serves as a stylish and functional spot for essentials like watches and belt buckles. It’s a space designed for both beauty and efficiency, ensuring that every detail is as practical as it is visually compelling.

Laundry Room
Proof that utility spaces can still be beautiful, this laundry room in Project Cowboy Cool balances form and function with thoughtful detail. Inset cabinetry painted in a soft khaki tone pairs seamlessly with dark countertops for a grounded, timeless feel. Mixed metal finishes—seen in the classic bridge faucet, brass hardware, and shelf brackets—add depth and quiet sophistication.
A deep apron-front sink makes quick work of chores, while open shelving offers the perfect perch for collected art, greenery, and functional storage. With its layered textures and subtle western nods, this hardworking space feels as warm and considered as the rest of the home.

Mudroom
Designed as the first stop upon entry, the mudroom in Project Cowboy Cool offers a practical yet beautiful space for this busy ranch family. Built-in lockers provide ample storage for shoes, bags, and even cleaning supplies, helping keep the rest of the home clutter-free.
We chose a fresh blue paint to contrast the rich wood tones, creating a welcoming, organized drop zone that still aligns with the home’s elevated rustic style. It’s the perfect place to kick off your cowboy boots and settle in.
