When you walk into this bedroom, you are greeted by earth tones, high barrel ceilings, texture, and organic elements that help create an overall thoughtfully layered look. For this project we became fast friends with the clients. We knew they didn’t want a flashy home that looked like we had just bought everything brand new out of a furniture store, so we worked really hard to create a collected, layered and time evolved look.

When designing this space it was important for us to take into account the scale of the room, height of the ceiling, and natural light pouring through the French doors. We wanted to ground the space well, so we incorporated a canopy bed to help draw the eye up to the tall ceilings and doors that open up to the client's back patio. It's subtle, inviting, soft, and warm.

It was important for us to evoke the senses, so we brought in materials like natural wood, leather and stone. All while including touches of iron and black, to keep things feeling streamlined. All of these earthy, organic materials come together to create a layered, textural look that both straddles the masculine & the feminine, it’s soft but hard. We love that it is a combination of juxtaposed, which is really just a fancy way of saying two different things paired next to each other for an interesting effect, and that is kind of one of the signature hallmarks of the KLD aesthetic.

We wanted to vary the mediums, and create something that felt inspirational, but still within our earth tone pallet. The final touch we included was a seating area, another added layer to this beautiful, yet livable space for our clients to treasure for years to come.
